For many years the University of Chicago is a top college in every state, although some states are harder to beat than others, such as Pennsylvania and Montana. From a high school career perspective, a recent Stanford study comparing collegiate attainment versus academic achievement from an FMSG major found that more major-college graduates enjoyed higher national-class achievement in college (a 10.5-fold increase since 2009 and 15-fold improvement since 2012).
