The DBM is built on a server application that provides the infrastructure for storing, retrieving and editing information for users. A user can view data in the database or modify data, and the DBM system provides tools such as stored procedures for retrieving data from the database, data access objects for accessing data from the database, custom views for viewing data from other forms of data storage systems, and stored procedures for retrieving data from stored procedures.
A DBM system also provides users with a user interface for using the database. This user interface contains controls for managing the administration of the database, creating, retrieving, and updating data. A user may be prompted to insert, update, or delete data by clicking a button.
When using a DBM, a user has control over how the system will be used. The DBM system may be configured to automatically backup the data before using or may be configured to allow the user to manually backup data. The user may also configure a security system which limits the user’s access to data. If the system is configured to provide security controls to the database, then users can make changes to the data without having to modify the system configuration.
A DBM system is capable of making decisions about database maintenance based on information stored in the database. For example, if a change is made to one column in the database, the DBM system will check the information stored in the other columns and determine if it should be updated or not. If the user does not want to update the database, he can choose to let the system do so for him.
A DBM system can be run on its own and the database administrators can control what information is allowed to be retrieved, modified or deleted from the system. There are some types of DBM system which include clustered or distributed DBM systems which can be managed by the database administrator.
There are different types of DBM systems available in the market. Some types of DBM systems are designed to handle small or medium sized databases whereas others can manage large databases. A web-based DBM can support various databases such as MS Access, Oracle, MS SQL Server, IBM Lotus Domino and Microsoft Access and many more.
All these DBM systems are designed to perform well under varied situations. An advantage of using a DBM is that users do not have to understand the inner working of the system because the system allows the users to just access the data stored in the database and make an informed decision about it. The users can also interact with the data they want to access easily without the need to understand the inner workings of the system.
With the availability of several DBM systems, users can have different options in managing the databases they use. This means they do not have to remember the various types of DBM configurations every time they use a certain type of database. They can have the right configuration to support all the database types they use.
In most cases, when a system is used to manage multiple databases, it can be configured to allow the users to share the data they have access to among the users who use it. This will allow them to have better access to the data they need.
In most cases, DBM systems can also help the users reduce costs. because they can make changes to the databases while keeping track of the same in a centralized database. This helps in avoiding duplication of the database and the need to keep all the information in memory.
